Festival of embodiment

A workshop exploring the embodied foundations of scientific understanding

We invite you to participate in an exciting interdisciplinary exploration of embodied cognition and its implications for science learning and teaching.

This workshop brings together researchers and practitioners from science education, the performing arts, virtual reality design, and neuroscience to investigate how our embodied experiences ground conceptual understanding.

Through interactive talks, embodied activities, and cross-disciplinary dialogue, we’ll explore questions such as:

  • How do our bodily experiences shape understanding of abstract scientific concepts?
  • What can cognitive/neuroscience tell us about the role of the body in learning science?
  • How might arts-based approaches enhance embodied science education and communication?
  • What are innovative ways to translate embodied principles to STEM teacher education?

Whether you’re familiar with embodied cognition theories or simply curious about how our bodies influence our thinking, this festival of embodiment offers multiple entry points to engage with embodied science.

The day is intended to create a rhythm that alternates between collective experiences and small group interdisciplinary explorations.

If you would like to offer a brief activity or provocation to enrich the day, please contact us.
